Aventuras na História – October – 2005
An interesting article about the “American Phoenicians” tribe, who create a Pacific travel and trade route long before the Spanish colonization.

História – September – 2005
“Pollice Verso” is a painting by the artist Jean-Léon Gérôme and was the main inspiration for this illustration. The magazine article explained the difference between gladiators and fun facts about their lives.

Info Corporate – September – 2005
For this article, the editor gave me some guidance on the looks of the illustrations, in addition to Hajime Sorayama and the Ghost in the Shell comics, the björk video clip “All is Full of Love” was the main source of inspiration. Kids playing outside is always a nostalgic sight. I tried to convey a dreamy mood using an unnatural color palette.

Playboy – August – 2005
The little guys are at work again. The perspective of the guy pouring oil is atrocious.

Brasil Sustentável – August – 2005
Caravels, big sails and capitalism arriving at the new world. I really like to paint old ships like these, unfortunately is so hard to find good references. At least, at the time I made these, they were very scarce.

Voce SA – August – 2005
While I don’t like to follow photographic references, the deviation from the source on this illustration pleased me. I liked the interplay of colors and textures in the finished image.

Horror – July – 2005
A cover for an independent horror magazine. The smallest of the projects are the most fun to do.

Vip Magazine – July – 2005
An article about an extinct grape. I should have chosen a less obvious approach…
